Understand initial physical limitations
Hi, my name is Shadow. I am a 7 month old male Lab Mix. I’m a medium-energy guy that loves to play but also snuggle. My foster family says I’m pretty smart and listen really well. I know how to “sit” and “come” and I’ll go sit by the door when I need to go potty! I haven’t had an accident in a while at my foster family’s house, but might need some more practice as I adjust to a new home. I’m working on getting more comfortable in the crate and improving every day, but I don’t like being by myself. I will probably sing you a lovely song when you put me in the crate by myself. I ask my future family to have patience with this as I’m learning! I get along great with my foster fur sister. I haven’t met children yet, but my foster family thinks I’d be gentle with them. I haven’t met any cats, but my foster mom thinks I would chase them because I like to chase things in the yard.
I have had a sad start to my life. When I was a stray, I got a bad injury to my hip. The nice vets gave me surgery to fix it and they say I’m healing nicely. However, I still need to rest it until I’m completely healed (vet says until I’m around a year old.) I need my future forever family to really understand that my physical activity needs to be limited until then. The vet says if I’m a good boy and rest it, I can be normally active again, yay! That’s such great news because I really love to run and play. I’m the sweetest boy and I really can’t wait to find my forever family.
