Pembroke Welsh Corgi
Female
5 years
21 lbs
Adoption Fee $500
Requirements: Kids 8+ | Martingale Collar | Another calm dog in the home

Kandee Kane is a sweet girl who is currently learning what it means to live in a home and trust humans. She is very shy, does not yet fully trust people, and remains skeptical of them in her space.
In her foster home, Kandee Kane gets along with the three other resident dogs, all of whom are very calm (no excessive barking or intense playing). She mostly keeps to herself, and they leave each other alone. She has not been introduced to cats.
Because she is unfamiliar with house living, Kandee Kane looks to her canine companions to see what they are doing. Loud or "in-your-face" dogs frighten her easily, which is why we require her next home to have at least one other calm, confident dog. This stable companion will be crucial in helping Kandee Kane continue to build her confidence.
Important things to know about Kandee Kane:
• Patience is Key: She gets startled easily and will run when there are loud noises or sudden movements. Her next family must be committed to giving her the space and time she needs to open up at her own pace.
• Children: Due to her skittish nature, children must be aged 8 or older and respectful of her need for space.
• Housetraining: She is currently not potty trained and has been having a hard time grasping it. Her next family must be prepared to patiently work with her on consistent house-training.
• Physical: She cannot manage stairs at this time.
• Leash Training & Safety: She has been learning how to walk on a leash and is making good progress. Because she can be startled by loud noises, a martingale collar is required to ensure she cannot slip out and accidentally run away.
• Crate Training: Kandee Kane is comfortable and does not mind being in a crate overnight and when her humans are away at work. She also eats her food in her crate.
Overall, Kandee Kane is a sweet girl who needs time and understanding to learn that people can be good and that a home can be a safe place. Her ideal family will be patient, committed to continuing her training, and willing to let her grow into herself at her own pace.
